Water Essay - Flow

Water is the most valuable resource and without water nobody can survive in our life. http://www.bergpublishers.com/?tabid=1800 . The body of the human is consisting 80% of water and it covers 71% of the earth’s surface. On Earth, it is found mostly in oceans and other large water bodies, with 1.6% of water below ground in aquifers and 0.001% in the air as vapor, clouds. Oceans hold 97% of surface water, glaciers and polar ice caps 2.4%, and other land surface water such as rivers, lakes and ponds 0.6%. A very small amount of the Earth's water is contained within biological bodies and manufactured products. Water on Earth moves continually through a cycle of evaporation or transpiration, precipitation, and runoff.

Some people take care of the gold and diamonds more than the water and they put the diamonds in a very safe place while the water is more important than the gold and diamonds and they waste it carelessly. It's hard to imagine what it's like to not have clean water to drink. Water is not evenly divided around the world. Some places have lots and others have very little. Water supply is a big problem in some countries. We found a site that really showed us how things were in Africa, written by people who live there. The problem of water supply keeps a lot of people looking for new ways to use water better. Every time we use it, we take water away from the earth. We now know how it flows on the surface and underground until it gets to us. If we don't spend that extra five minutes in the shower, or run the water when we brush our teeth, we can make a difference. http://library.thinkquest.org/04apr/00222/problems.htm

There are many different reasons for impure water such as washing, showering and throwing garbage in the seas and rivers. Also there are a few unhealthy water cycles such as sewage and aquifer. Poor people can’t get clean water and it is very difficult using traditional methods because it is too expensive. The 10 liters of water cost 2 US$ per person per day, so they can’t afford it. In India, there are 7,600 community-built water harvesting projects. The organization that has legal immunity is the World Bank, so it can’t be sued for breaking promises to people. In USA, there is a weed killer which is called “Atrazin”. One of its effects is causing prostate cancer in men. The state of California has 27 years of water left, Arizona 4 and a half. Three quarters of the Americans drink bottled water. One of the bottled water companies has 70 brands, it is Nestle. This company does not pay for the water it takes from the community. Also it receives a tax break of 10 million $US over 10 years. During a time of drought it keeps pumping. Nestle appealed but it continued pumping water during the appeal. http://www.record-eagle.com/opinion/local_story_213195108.html

In Bolivia, there is blood in the drinking water and it is from the slaughterhouse. The country privatized the water because the world bank demanded it. In 2007, the contract with Suez ended and control of the water returned to the people. In South Africa, they bring the water from the rivers but there is a problem with the water; it is polluted. There is a tablet for cleaning water but the local people didn’t buy it yet maybe because it is expensive and they are poor. The dirty water kills more people than AIDS and more than wars. It is very dangerous to the people.

The technology between the past and the present

There is no doubt that nowadays business companies and marketing corporations work with the best and most ideal strategies and plans. One main reason behind that is the use of computers. The computer made the life very much easier because with it you can send emails and information anywhere just in a few seconds. Also you can save any data and information in the computer easily.

Some people might take things for granted and not even appreciate the role that computers take in leading business corporations. If we compare how businesses nowadays operate with businesses 20 years ago, we would find that today, businesses depend mostly or almost entirely on computers and other technological devices in general such as mobile phones and faxes, which actually is the main reason behind the success of most corporations.

Computers come in handy in businesses because they do most of the work instead of man; large amounts of data can be sent from one computer for instance in Shanghai to another computer device in Toronto. Computers play a significant role in inventory control, processing and handling orders, communication between satellite companies in an organization, design and production of goods, manufacturing, product and market analysis, advertising, producing the company newsletter, and in some cases, complete control of company operations. Another advantage of computers is that they execute operations much faster and more efficiently than humans, which eventually results in saving time and money. (www.hotmail.com). Some businessmen depend on computers for most of their work, because some plans or strategies or procedures can be hectic for a human to take care of.

A computer is made up of 3 main components, a CPU, the Central Processing Unit, which is considered the brain of the computer, where every single bit of information is executed at, and interpreted into a symbol or a character or even a picture. The second component is the RAM; the Random Access Memory, which holds data which is being used at a given moment or recently used data, that can come in handy for multitasking business programs. Last but not least is the Hard Drive, which is the bank of data that is stored on the computer. With these three main components plus a graphical interface, businesses can manage all or most of their work faster, easier, more efficiently and cheaper. Also there is software which is a part of the computer you cannot touch but is very important. The software is all the programming that makes the computer run, controlling everything that the computer does. There are some other external components which are very important for every computer and they are the monitor, mouse, key board and computer case. The Monitor is the display screen, similar to a television screen. The Keyboard is what you type on, similar to a typewriter. The Mouse is the small hand held device that attaches to the computer. It may have two or three buttons. The mouse is used to move the cursor (pointer) on the computer screen. The Computer, tower, or case is the heart of the system. This is a box that contains all the parts that make the computer work. It can be identified by the fact that it does not seem to do anything. It also has slots to put computer disks in. Also there are some additional devices and accessories which are the printer and the scanner. The Printer is a device that puts what you have created on to paper. (http://www.printer.com). The Scanner is a device that captures pictures so that they can be seen and used on the computer, similar to a color photocopier.

Comparison

Today I will write a comparison between two race cars which are the Bugatti Veyron and the Porsche 911 Turbo and I will write some information about the speed and the horse power . Also in this paragraph I will write about the similarities and differences between these two race cars.

There are few major similarities between the Bugatti Veyron and the Porsche 911 Turbo. The first similarity is that both of them are sport cars. Both of them have a very high safety system. The second similarity is that both cars have only two doors and only two passengers can sit in each car. Another similarity is that they both have turbo which makes the car faster than usual.

Although there are many similarities, there are also many important differences between these two fast cars. The first difference is the price. The Bugatti Veyron costs 1.4 million Euro (www.rsportscars.com/bugatti) whereas the Porsche 911 Turbo costs 150,862 Euro (www.rsportscars.com/porsche). Secondly, the top speed of the Bugatti is 252.9 mph (www.rsportscars.com/bugatti) while the top speed in the Porsche is 193 mph (www.rsportscars.com/porsche). The third difference is the 0-60 mph. The Bugatti Veyron scored less than 2.7 second (www.rsportscars.com/bugatti) and the Porsche 911 Turbo scored 3.5 seconds (www.rsportscars.com/porsche). The fourth difference is the torque. The Bugatti Veyron has 922 lb.ft (www.rsportscars.com/bugatti) whereas the Porsche 911 Turbo has only 460 lb.ft (www.rsportscars.com/porsche). Another difference is the horse power. The Bugatti has 1001 hp (www.rsportscars.com/bugatti) whereas the Porsche has only 480 hp (www.rsportscars.com/porsche). Finally, the weight of the Bugatti is 4339 lbs (www.rsportscars.com/bugatti) while the weight of the Porsche is 3130 lbs (www.rsportscars.com/porsche).

In conclusion, the differences outweigh the similarities and both of them are very fast and required from many people but the Bugatti is faster than the Porsche. In my opinion, if I had enough money I would buy the Bugatti Veyron because it is better than the Porsche from every side such as the speed, design and the prestige.

1964 Pontiac Grand Prix

The 1964 Grand Prix is one of the best-looking and most impressive Pontiacs ever. And it has nice wheels that are tucked a bit too far into the body. In many senses we are well rid of such excess. I understood that most Americans have big cars. The 1963 and 1965 Grand Prix models had visors over the stacked headlamps, but the 1964 has elegantly “frenched” lamps without excrescent, drag-producing elements. On this Grand Prix, the whole upper structure is pure, both classical and elegant. The overall look is insistently American, but the reverse curve at the leading and trailing edges of the rear pillars and the concave backlight refer to British knife-edge designs. Mitchell made a lot of use of “windsplits,” which he likened to creases in a well-pressed suit. There is one down the middle of the hood, one on each front fender, and a swelling version on the side of the rear fender, enlivening the simple side panels.

The Hajar Mountains

The Hajar Mountains are home to the Wadi Wurayah protected area in which more than 100 species of birds and other animals can be found. A big problem is that the concept of what it actually means to be a protected area is vague. The area faces serious threats. Such as litter, quarrying and over-exploitation of the water feeding the wadi. When a decree was issued by the ruler of Fujairah, the area became off-limits for development such as construction and quarrying. This wadi is recommended as a must-see in UAE off-road and tourist guides. It is also home to the garra barreimiae, which lives only in the Hajar Mountains. The main problem in the world is implementation. Another issue is sponsorship, which is vital to the success of the project. The project would not be successful if the HSBC did not donate money. Dibba Rock is an example. It is a marine protected area also in the emirate and it attracts divers and snorkelers.

Main Idea

It is about one of the rare places to find rare animals and plants.

Comment

It is very nice topic and I wish we get more information about these beautiful places.

Dyslexia

Children who are dyslexic have problems processing specific visual information, resulting in trouble reading and writing. New research suggests that dyslexics have difficulty with the control of eye movement. Some children with dyslexia may report a disturbing sensation of glare from the printed page. In some dyslexic children, reading causes headache. A professor of neurology at Magdalene College, Oxford, has spent 20 years researching the connection between lack of eye control and reading difficulties. He says: “ We are visual animals and eye movements are possibly the most important movements we make because they allow us to inspect the world around us. Dyslexia is not a disease. It is a brain difference, like left-handedness. Eye wobble is not obvious to the naked eye. The movements are small and very rapid. The hi-tech specs, which are worn for only a few minutes during tests, are the most accurate technique we have for detecting the amount of eye wobble. If we can get children early, their brains are flexible enough to enable them to improve control.
