The Hajar Mountains

The Hajar Mountains are home to the Wadi Wurayah protected area in which more than 100 species of birds and other animals can be found. A big problem is that the concept of what it actually means to be a protected area is vague. The area faces serious threats. Such as litter, quarrying and over-exploitation of the water feeding the wadi. When a decree was issued by the ruler of Fujairah, the area became off-limits for development such as construction and quarrying. This wadi is recommended as a must-see in UAE off-road and tourist guides. It is also home to the garra barreimiae, which lives only in the Hajar Mountains. The main problem in the world is implementation. Another issue is sponsorship, which is vital to the success of the project. The project would not be successful if the HSBC did not donate money. Dibba Rock is an example. It is a marine protected area also in the emirate and it attracts divers and snorkelers.

Main Idea

It is about one of the rare places to find rare animals and plants.

Comment
